Non Drop-Side Crib: Review of Ikea Gulliver Crib
CLEAN-LINED, STURDY AND AFFORDABLE NON DROP-SIDE BABY CRIB

I'm a huge fan of this crib for its simplicity, durability and affordability. We purchased the birch Ikea Gulliver Crib as a second crib. Our first child wasn't quiet ready to switch to a toddler
bed at the time that our 2nd baby came along. We needed another crib but didn't want to spend another $400.00. We checked out the Gulliver Crib at Ikea and were surprised at how sturdy and modern looking it was. It was very simple to put together, has very few parts (none are plastic) and is remarkably sturdy. Aside from having a really clean and functional design, it seems to visually take up much less space than a typical crib because it is quite low to the ground. It only has 2 levels, rather then the typical 3, but this is not a problem. We set it up from the start on the lower level since the crib is low enough for this 5' 3" mom to reach down and pick up baby at either level. This low design makes changing the sheets much easier too. I once had to disassemble and reassemble the crib to move it to another room. Because of the simple construction, I was able to break it down into 2 pieces, move it to another room, and reassemble by myself in about 20 minutes. The Gulliver Crib does NOT have a dangerous drop side. It does have a slatted bed base design for good air circulation. It converts to a toddler bed (conversion kit included) and may be completed with VIKARE guardrail. I should note that the distance from top of crib rail to mattress (at lowest level) is the same as on our original, larger crib. I mention this because at first glance, the crib looks like it would be easier to climb out of, but this is only because the entire crib is lower to the ground. If you need to replace your current crib with a non drop-side crib due to the recent crib recalls, the Ikea Gulliver crib might be a great option for you.
